JV Ejercito congratulates TOYM awardees

Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on Monday
joined his colleagues in the Senate in congratulating the recipients of this
year’s Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Awards.
“I would not want to lose this opportunity to
extend my congratulations and commendation to the recipients of the 2021 Ten
Outstanding Young Men (TOYM) Awards for their very significant and remarkable
contributions in their fields and to the community,” Ejercito said.
“Prioritizing others above yourself is
extraordinary, and yet, these men and women did it so selflessly [...] Being a
TOYM awardee means that you did something extraordinary,” he added.
This year’s awardees include coffee
entrepreneur and Rise Against Hunger co-organizer Ariestelo Asilo; agricultural
entrepreneur and Session Groceries founder Iloisa Romaraog-Diga; Art Workshops
for Indigenous People Elementary Teacher head facilitator Eleazar Abraham
Orobia; marine conservationist and Save Philippine Seas executive director Anna
Oposa; Ateneo de Manila University Development Studies Department director
Jayeel Cornelio; AirDisc Cooling Technologies inventor Maria Yzabell Angel
Palma; interventional cardiologist Dr. Jaime Alfonso Ahererra; teacher Lou
Sabrina Ongkiko; GMA News and Public Affairs digital media head Jaymark
Tordecilla; and COVID-19 expert Dr. Melvin Sanicas.
Gatchalian’s Proposed Senate Resolution No.
77, in consideration of Angara’s Proposed Senate Resolution No. 91, was
approved unanimously by the Upper Chamber.
“The 2021 TOYM awardees exemplify innovative
leadership, devotion to excellence, and heartfelt patriotism through the
services they have rendered to their countrymen, and genuinely serve as true
models of excellence worth emulating by the young generation, and the nation in
general,” the resolution read.
Established in 1959, the TOYM Awards is an
annual project organized by the Junior Chambers International (JCI) Philippines
together with the TOYM Foundation Inc. and Gerry Roxas Foundation Inc.
The award seeks to recognize the outstanding
achievement of young Filipino men and women aged 18 to 40 whose selfless
dedication, passion, and integrity to their respective profession and fields of
endeavor made positive and significant contributions to the betterment of
Philippine society and resulted in advancements in their respective fields.
For his track record in public service and
governance as the former Mayor of San Juan City, Ejercito was selected as one
of the recipients of the same award in 2007.
He also served as national president of JCI
International Philippines in 1998.
“I also want to congratulate my brothers and sisters
in the the Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines for a job well done
in meticulously selecting these brave and young men and women as a recipient of
this award, honorees that will serve as hope and inspiration to everyone and to
our younger generation,” Ejercito said.
