HONORING PRESIDENT ERAP

I express my deepest gratitude to the sponsors, the Senate President himself, Francis Chiz Escudero, and Senators Joel Villanueva and Senator Win Gatchalian, for this heartwarming and touching resolution and to all the kind words of our colleagues honoring the service of our father, Joseph Ejercito Estrada.
Marami na pong ginampanang role ang aking ama sa pelikula, ngunit alam ko na ang kanyang paboritong role ay ang pagiging lingkod bayan.
I still remember that in my youth, watching my father fulfill different roles in the service of our people such as Mayor of San Juan, as Senator in this very same chamber, as Vice President, and as the 13th President of the Republic, he always endeavored to always put the people first. President Joseph Estrada, who had a long and storied career in the public service was known to be a passionate advocate for the masses.
Beyond his public service, our father also demonstrated an unwavering commitment to his craft as an actor.
His perseverance led him to a very successful acting career where he starred and produced countless movies, which undoubtedly created many jobs that helped sustain the Filipino movie industry.
Nakilala sa kanyang slogan na “Erap para sa Mahirap,” lagi kinikilala at isinasapuso ni Pangulong Erap sa kanyang bawat tagumpay na kanyang naabot, ay dahil sa suporta at pagmamahal, lalo’t higit ng Masang Pilipino.
It is in this same spirit that I have, and will continue to dedicate myself to fulfilling my duties as a public servant who has sworn an oath to serve the people. Dahil sabi nga ni Pangulong Erap, “Walang tutulong sa Pilipino, kung hindi kapwa Pilipino.”
