Destab plot vs. 31M-backed Marcos highly unlikely, says JV Ejercito

Any attempt to destabilize the Marcos
administration will not prosper despite rumors of alleged unrest within the
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Senator Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito said
on Tuesday.
In a press conference, Ejercito stressed that
destabilization plots will not gain traction as
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. was supported by over 31
million voters.
“I think now there is no rallying point. The
President just assumed office. He has a mandate of 31 million. I don’t think it
will gain traction,” he said.
Moreover, there is no major scandal that could
serve as a rallying point for critics to effectively mobilize against the
President, he added.
On Sunday, the AFP dispelled rumors of a
destabilization plot against Marcos, saying that its ranks are loyal to the
President.
Talks of such a plot began to circulate online
after Marcos appointed Gen. Andres Centino as AFP chief, replacing Lt. Gen.
Vicente Bartolome Bacarro.
The Philippine National Police (PNP) also
denied issuing a memo placing all police units under full alert in response to
a supposed destabilization attempt in the AFP.
