JV Ejercito: Long-term infra planning should include energy sector
September 09, 2022
Senator Joseph Victor “JV” on Wednesday said
construction of new energy sources should be included in the planning of the
country’s long-term infrastructure development program.
During the first hearing of the Senate
Committee on Energy, Ejercito said planning for energy infrastructure should go
beyond changes in administration and cover around 50 to 100 years of
implementation.
“Ang nangyayari kasi sa’tin, kung ano yung
current administration, they’re just focused on their legacy. Dapat magkaroon
tayo ng long-term planning that includes energy for the next 50 to 100 years,”
Ejercito said.
The lawmaker from San Juan City said the
energy sector will definitely have a place in the Comprehensive Infrastructure
Development Master Plan proposed under Senate Bill No. XX, one of his priority
measures.
With the goal of paving the way for
“developed, integrated, and coordinated infrastructure development,” the
proposed plan will serve as the “blueprint for the different departments of the
government in the construction, upgrading, and improvement of infrastructure
projects all over the country in the next thirty years or more years.
Ejercito asked Energy Secretary Raphael Lotilla to
recommend new energy sources that the country should prioritize in its
infrastructure development program.
