JV Ejercito to file infrastructure and transpo master plan bill
June 28, 2022
Senator-elect Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito on
Tuesday said he will be filing a bill on the creation of a comprehensive master
plan on infrastructure and transport modernization.
“One of the first bills that I will file is
the Comprehensive Master Plan for Infrastructure Development and Transport
Modernization so that magtuloy-tuloy itong Build, Build, Build, that whoever
sits as President, bawat Presidente kasi may kanya-kanyang pet projects or
programs, but infrastructure development and transport modernization, yung
planning niyan should be 50 to 100 years, dapat tuloy-tuloy,” he said.
“We should have a blueprint that the
government will follow, whoever sits a President, magpalit man ng
administrasyon,” he added.
The bill will be his first proposed measure as
a returning lawmaker and as a Senator in the 19th Congress.
Once enacted, Ejercito said the master plan
will pave the way for infrastructure development beyond the country’s urban
centers and spur new growth development areas around the archipelago.
“The only way we can decongest Metro Manila is
to spread out the development, kasi lahat ng opportunity nandito. We have to
spread out the development to the countryside. Kailangang mag-create tayo ng
growth development areas in the provinces so that there will be opportunities
in the provinces,” he said.
“Ngayon kasi, siyempre, lahat ng opportunity
ay nandito sa Manila, kaya lahat ay nagsisiksikan dito,” he added.
At present, there are potential growth development
areas in Central Luzon, North Luzon, the Bicol Region, and Mindanao, Ejercito
said.
