JV Ejercito, Tourism Promotions Board to launch Philippine Cyclo Tourism in Cavite
May 01, 2025
Silang, Cavite—Senior Deputy Majority Leader Joseph Victor “JV” Ejercito, in partnership with the Tourism Promotions Board (TPB) Philippines, is set to officially launch the Philippine Cyclo Tourism program with a community ride and ceremonial program in Silang, Cavite on May 4.
According to Ejercito, this new initiative aims to spotlight the Philippines’ scenic bike routes and off-the-beaten-path destinations, empowering local economies while promoting a culture of health, fitness, and eco-friendly travel.
“After the success of the Philippine Motorcycle Tourism, we’re now tapping our vibrant cycling community to help discover and promote the hidden treasures of our beautiful country,” Ejercito said.
“Habang tinutulungan natin ang lokal na turismo, hinihikayat din natin ang mga kababayan natin na maging aktibo at fit.“
The event, dubbed the Philippine Cyclo Tourism Launch Ride, will begin with a gathering at the Silang New Municipal Grounds in Barangay Biga I, followed by a scenic morning ride through Silang’s roads and countryside, and conclude with brunch and the official program launch at the famed Cafe Agapita.
“This has been a personal advocacy of mine,” Ejercito added. “I hope this cycling community grows just as much as the Philippine Motorcycle Tourism. The health benefits are for all, and together, we can boost local tourism in the process.”
Up to 200 participants will have the chance to join the inaugural ride. Cyclists of all levels, from casual bikers to competitive riders, are encouraged to sign up.
The program was borne out of collaborative discussions between Ejercito and TPB earlier this year, with initial planning meetings held in January and March.
Other industry leaders and advocates include TPB Director Cesar Villanueva, cycling advocate Ritchie Santayana of Specialized Philippines, Pat Giron and Ghia Vicente of San Ride Bukas, and well-known cyclist Shintaro Valdez of Team Opus.
The launch also has the support of notable partners including Kuya Kim Atienza, known for his own love of cycling and exploration, and Ahmot of Cafe Agapita, who is hosting the post-ride celebration.
