TPB, Ejercito champions the country as a sustainable cycling destination with the launch of Philippine Cyclo-Tourism

May 4, 2025

The Tourism Promotions Board (TPB), with the strong support of the office of Senator JV Ejericto, officially launched the Philippine Cyclo-Tourism (PCT) program in Silang, Cavite, on May 4, 2025, offering a new and sustainable way to experience the Philippines' stunning landscapes.

About 200 cycling enthusiasts, public figures, media representatives, and influencers gathered for this innovative tourism product that promises unique cycling adventures across the country.

The project kicked off with a relaxed ride in the scenic town of Silang, Cavite. During the ride, cyclists paused and regrouped at key heritage sites, where tour guides shared signifiance to Silang’s history.

Spearheaded by TPB Chief Operating Officer Maria Margarita Montemayor Nograles, the PCT program was developed by the TPB, in support of the Department of Tourism (DOT)'s vision to diversify and expand the country’s tourism products.

“Cyclo-tourism offers an excellent way for an immersive travel—one that is sustainable and deeply connected to the destinations and communities that make our archipelago unique,” Nograles said.

The successful launch was graced by key figures who share the vision for sustainable and community-driven tourism, led by riding advocate Senator JV Ejercito, who actively champions cycling as both a lifestyle and a tool to boost local

tourism.

Ejercito also actively participated in the initial meetings and conceptualization of the program months prior.

“Like its predecessor Philippine Motorcycle Tourism, I’m glad to support Philippine Cyclo-Tourism. It is a practical and enjoyable way to explore the country, support local communities, and promote healthier living among our kababayans,” Ejercito

said.

Also in attendance were Silang Mayor Edward Esparat Carranza’s representative Sir Aristotle Velasco, DOT Region IV-A Director Marites Castro; and partners Mr. Ahmot Baranda of Cafe Agapita and Mr. Ritchie Santayana of Specialized Philippines.

Their presence underscored the growing momentum behind cyclo-tourism as a collaborative initiative that made this launch the first major activation of the PCT after months of conceptualization, route planning, and stakeholder engagement as a commitment to sustainable and responsible tourism.

TPB affirms that this is just the start of a broader mission to make cycling a vital part of the country's tourism landscape.
